A fine hotel, with good food and polite, helpful staff - but take a torch to see your way around!

The room was quiet and spacious. The walk-in shower was excellent, with many shower options and ample space. A shelf of some description, somewhere, would have been nice. We had a room 'with a garden view'. The 'garden' turned out to be a wooded area containing what looked to be mostly dead trees. There were bits of green here and there, but no other colour that one might expect in a 'garden'. I appreciate that we were there in November, which is not the best time to view a 'garden', and the trees had doubtlessly shed their leaves for the Winter, but we did feel that the word 'garden' was not justified in any sense, We dined in the hotel restaurant on two evenings. Although slightly over-priced, we felt, the food was beautifully cooked and superbly presented. The staff were pleasant and attentive, without being intrusive. However, there was a printed main menu, but the drinks menu and the menu for desserts was only available via a code which had to be scanned from a mobile telephone. Being old fashioned, we do not take mobile telephones into dinner, so we were unable to know what was on these menus. It was the only problem that seemed to get the better of the staff; they did not know how to resolve it. A few other difficulties were swiftly and efficiently solved. I think a couple of spare printed menus for drinks and desserts should be kept in reserve, for those guests who are clearly regarded as 'unfortunate' (a word used by one staff member when referring to us) because they do not have a mobile telephone to hand when they go into dinner. Another point on the use of mobile telephones, by way of illustration; during breakfast every morning the mobiles of guests kept 'pinging' every few seconds; obviously they were connected to apps such as 'What's App', or similar, etc.

Whilst I fully endorse any measures that will help to save the planet, the problem here is that the reduced lighting everywhere is not helped by the dark interiors of the hotel. Furthermore, many of the lights in both the public and the bedroom areas are activated by motion, which is fine in theory but has its limitations in certain practical situations: I tried to read an interesting book in one of the public sitting-rooms. Personally, I do not move about a lot when I am reading a book, so after thirty seconds the lights went out. I had to wave my arms in order to get the lights back. The fourth time this occurred, I gave up. The stairways are black with glass panels at levels between floors and to the 'open' side of the main staircase. In the dim lighting during the hours of darkness the glass becomes invisible, increasing the hazard for anyone who has poor eyesight, like myself, or to anyone partially sighted. Moreover, to add to the lack of light, the floors are black, the walls are black, the pillars are black, the ceilings are black, much of the furniture is black, the cushions on the (brown) sofas are black. In the dining-room, as well as the walls, floor, ceiling and pillars, the tables and most of the chairs are black; even the napkins are black. It was hard to see the menu that was actually printed (on, of course, a black background!). Dotted around the hotel are black figures or statues, frozen in various poses, some with wings or other adornments. When we first tried to find our way to our room (the corridor became illuminated as we walked down it, but even then it was dark and gloomy). I thought these black figures were going to jump out at us. Silly, I know, but that was the initial impression gained, until one became used to their presence. I have nothing against contemporary buildings, but this interior is borderline depressing.

Sure to come back - nice escape from routine

The room was ready for our arrival, the vip romantic package was nicely done. The room was clean and all amenities in place and the bed was comfy. The breackfast had all options available and the scrambled eggs were nicely done. Sure to came back.

The light in the room was scarce and the one closest to the door was with sensor, which each time we move in the room it comes on and stays for a lifetime. I would prefer to have a switch.

Excellent outdoor swimming pool

Large room, with large bathroom, comfortable bed, excellent shower, perfumed toiletries, nice sunny varanda, good heating and air conditioning, hairdryer, spacious wardrobes. Varied breakfast, excellent outdoor swimming pool.

The indoor swimming pool is not big, and there is a rim underwater at one of the extremities for the water jets which is not well signalled — so we risk hit it as we swim, until we memorise the exact location. The duvets had a chemical smell. The carpet in the corridors was dusty. Buses to town not very frequent.

Enjoyed our stay , would probably go back.

Clean , wacky design . Really comfortable bed . Very friendly staff. Good breakfast Dinner seemed pricey .

The light in the bedroom was motion controlled and the bathroom had a glass wall . This meant that the room was flooded with light when my husband used the bathroom in the night , thus waking me up . I don’t understand why hotel designers do this glass bathroom thing .

A luxury getaway.

Beautiful property, incredibly stylish, well designed layout and stunning rooms. Pool is a lovely addition to the location and with a beach on minutes away it is the perfect getaway location for a loner, a family or a couple.

Hotel is great for a short few days stay.

The hotel is nice. I liked the huge comfy bed, spacious room. There was a daily cleaning service. The swimming pool is cool, refreshing. It was kinda crowded over the weekend but that’s completely understandable. We had no issues with the noises; it was super calm during the night, no parties or noises outside. The personnel was welcoming and kind. We had tons of questions where to go, how to get to point B (we didn’t have a car) so the girls at reception were kind to print us the directions and explain where to go. My partner used the spa few times, and the Turkish bath was not working thought all our stay. He enjoyed the massage though, it was an experience worth paying for. Also be aware that the hotel is kinda far from everything, and if you don’t have a car you will end up using taxi since public transport around is not the best (buses takes hours to get and the schedule is a mess). We were taking the taxi to the port to take a boat to go to downtown (around 10 euros).

For the negative points I would say it’s the pillows in the bedroom: they are uncomfortable and look really aged, the filling inside is a mess. I had a pain in the neck the other morning, and I asked at the reception if by chance they might have others. Luckily, they offered me other pillow, which was better than the standard one. I would suggest the owners to invest to good proper pillows for the 4 star hotel. The breakfast I would rate at 3.5 out of 5. There could have been a wider choice of the food for the hotels category. We ended up eating scrambled eggs and bacon every morning. What surprised me is a complete absence of vegetables for the breakfast, not a single lettuce or tomatoes or cucumbers.
